The Good News

In 2008, a half-time professional E.D. has bought you expanded capacity and inclusivity:

  • a fully functional and accurate financial records in Quickbooks Online accessible from anywhere in the world 
  • New and solid tech infrastructure tools
    • a functioning and expanding, professional website continuing to grow as new individual and group members join and find a complete roster of member information
      • The final phase of that growth spurt remains to be funded and plugged in (online market for members to offer their products, event sign-up, donations processing without using PayPal)
    • this integrated Member Wiki http://aikiext.org so any member anywhere may contribute to their own work and our web identity in a way that is profoundly creative and accessible

    • a password protected, private, virtual office suite on Airset.com with distinct user-groups: 
      • AEadmin - an AE Operations Manual and process driving/tracking system
      • AEboard for oversight and the development of future initiatives and fundraising
    • An international Skype account for video connections and voice conferencing - User Name aiki.extensions
    • a member-access Media Library at 4shared.com - access here at Media Library password aikiext
    • a General Discussion email listserve through which any member may communicate directly with all other members at http://groups.google.com/group/artsofpeace?hl=en
    •  

  • AExposure through Facebook, MySpace, Twitter (aikiext), YouTube, Craigslist, LinkedIn, AikiWeb, and additional social networking sites in which AE was previously unknown
  • Facilitation of and Support for:
    • the Mideast Aikido Project and PeaceCamp Initiative
    • Quentin Cooke's $10k gift to Harmony In Action Brazil and the children in the Sao Paulo slums
    • new dojo memberships and expanded benefits 
    • growth of the Awassa Peace Dojo and aikido in Ethiopia through Tesfaye Tekelu's training in a series of excellent dojos and visit as uchi deshi to Kayla Feder Sensei this coming month at Aikido of Berkeley, and Richard Strozzi-Heckler at Two Rock in January, where Tes will take a shodan exam.
    • Aviv Goldsmith's wonderful Teaching Aikido to Children at Aikido of Berkeley
      • Fruitfully gifted with the presentations of Jose Bueno of Harmony In Action Brazil and Tesfaye Tekelu of Awassa Peace Dojo

    • Don Levine's University of Chicago sponsored and very well received Aikido in Higher Education min-conference
      • Resulting in new energy and activity on the part of several new and dynamic members and committees
    •  David Lukoff's upcoming Aikido and Psychology seminar at Aikido of Berkeley (end of January 2009)

  • Compelling plans for the future generated in part and supported by the awakening AE community and supported by websimulcasting technology
  • Reconnection with members around the world who had wandered away or departed our company, often with unexpressed anger over apparently unilateral decision-making
