A significant part of AE's mission has come to involve supporting children to learn arts of peace for themselves in the context of responsive and responsible community. Most of our efforst thus far have revolved around supporting children in traditional aikido training.
Beginning with AE's contributions to Seven Tepees in San Francisco, it has become clear that curriculae are required that address children at risk who may not expect a formal dojo/aikido training experience. These children, perhaps more than any others, may benefit from contextual learning of process arts derived from aiki principles that lead directly to peace practices they may internalize and carry back into the streets through which they walk and the homes to which they must return.
There is also a movement in public education to restore a sense of body and movement to education. Obviously aiki-origin movement would build on this but with the added benefit of the movement itself teaching peace principles.

There are many miles to go in this direction before we sleep, and fundraisers, curricula, volunteer hours, and careful home-building in our future. This page is an overview of services offered by AE and related others that directly serve children in all circumstances.
